| Two-day Travel to Dandong and Sinuiju of Korea |
Introduction of Scenic Spot
Sinuiju (Korean), the fourth largest city of Democratic People's Republic of Korea. As the capital of North Phyongan, it is located in the southern Yalu River along the northwestern Sino-Korean Frontier of Korea. Situated in the alluvial plain in left downstream bank of Yalu River, Sinuiju is about 40km away from the estuary of Yalu River and connected with Dandong of Liaoning Province by a 944m-long railway bridge across river. Sinuiju is the commercial port between Korea and China, with urban population of about 200 thousand.
Sinuiju is the terminus of Gyeongui Line (Seoul C Sinuiju), which also connects with Pyongyang through flight, electrified railway and highroad. Additionally, Sinuji accesses to Dandong of China through railway, and connects with Trans-Siberian Railway through Zhongchang Railway.
Sinuiju is also one of the important light industry centers in Korea. Because the logs of Korean interior forest area are distributed in this place along the river, many paper-making factories are established here. After the completion of Shuifeng Reservoir in the upstream Yalu River, chemical industry has obtained the great development. Sinuiju also owns the developed textile industry, with many woolen mills and rubber factories established in the south, all of which depend on imported materials for production. Rice is mostly planted within suburbs, and ship-making factories are mainly arranged in Longyan Beach of outer port.
With more than 200 families of overseas Chinese, Sinuiju has become one of the main living cities for overseas Chinese in Korea. |

Depart from the frontier at 8:00 in the morning; leave for Sinuiju through the Yalu River Bridge by special touring bus, where is the capital of North Phyongan of Korea; tour in Sinuiju Station Square; present flowers to Kim Il-sung Bronze; visit the Kim Il-sung Achievement Hall; leave for Uiju County and pay a visit to the Former Residence of Kim Il-sungs Father, Nanshan Park, Ancient Namdaemum, Tongjun Pavilion and Bajiao Pavilion. Enjoy Korean-style lunch and go shopping by Chinese Yuan. Go back to Sinuiju, then visit the local school or kindergarten and appreciate the children performance. Return to Dandong at 5:00 in the afternoon. |
