Introduction of Scenic Spot
The national-level scenic spot of Phoenix Mountain is located in the place 3km away from the southeast Fengcheng. Many trains stop at Fengcheng everyday, where is an important station of Shendan Line. Therefore, it is extremely convenient to access Fengcheng from Shenyang or Dandong. When leaving for Phoenix Mountain from Dandong by vehicle, it is only 50km away from the foot of mountain in the northwest along highway.
Phoenix Mountain belongs to the branch range of Changbai Mountain. As the highest peak of Phoenix Mountain, Cuanyun Peak is as high as 840m and has been awarded as national-level scenic area, which is well-known for the mysterious view contained in danger and the quiet view hidden in beauty. It is considered as one of four famous mountains in Liaoning Province, together with Qian Mountain, Yiwulu Mountain and Yao Mountain. Due to the abrupt mountain slope and the similar shape with phoenix, it is named as Phoenix Mountain. The whole mountain can be divided into four scenic areas, including West Mountain, East Mountain, Temple Valley and Ancient City. Therein, West Mountain, which is characteristic for its wonderful view and steep slope, is the most attractive scenic area.
Compared with Hua Mountain, Phoenix Mountain is lower but owns the similar wonder and steepness. Taking the ridge on Laoniubei as an example, even though smoothness and hardship to walk on, none step is chiseled and tourists need to climb the mountain with the help of steel railings. In case of freezing winter, it will become the blind alley under the effect of ice and snow. Compared with the Canglong Range of Hua Mountain, it exhibits the more wonderful and dangerous view. Taking the plank road exclusive in the world as an example, it is chiseled on the waist of the rugged cliff and tilted downwards, so it will also be the blind alley without protective railing even though neither ice nor snow. Additionally, if compared with the Changkong Plank Road of Hua Mountain, it also exhibits the more wonderful and dangerous view.
Phoenix Mountain is famous for not only the grand and steep mountain slope, but also the clear and quiet spring mouth. There are Phoenix Cave, Three Church, Yipin Grotto Heaven and other ancient caves, which are zigzag and deep, as well as Phoenix Tear and other main springs, which are clear and sweet.
